2009 Update
Dear Friends and Supporters of the Crystal Academy,
Happy New Year!! I welcome 2009 with an open heart and mind and the faith that there will be more unity amongst us in this next year. Numerological information tells us that 2009 is an eleven year (found by adding the numbers together). Eleven is a master number, one that represents beginning anew on a cycle higher. It is about taking the lessons that we have learned from the past and applying those teachings into our lives. Eleven is about growth and the integration of higher consciousness into our beings.
Last year, 2008, was a good year for the Crystal Academy of Advanced Healing Arts. With satellites based around the world students from all walks of life are learning crystal healing and able to take that knowledge back into their communities. More than 200 certificates were received by individuals world-wide. I remain grateful to the teachers that I have trained who continue to teach Beginning and Intermediate Certification Courses in their own location. See the World Wide Courses Page.
In September my own personal life changed forever when I lost my dear mother to an unexpected illness. Her passage was unexpected and tragic for our family. I spent three months caring for my father immediately following her death. On the same day that my mother died, my dear friend and crystal mentor, Jane Ann Dow died. The Dow Crystal is named in her honor. (See: Memorial to Jane Ann Dow).
That both of these women, my beloved mother and my crystal mentor and dear friend passed into spirit on the same day is still hard for me to grapple with. I was on my way to Maui to see Jane Ann for the last time when I received the call that my mother was ill and left immediately. I was with my mother when she died. The last four months of 2008 were very difficult for me. I had to put everything else aside and be in the moment with the situation at hand. I know it will take me a while to recover from the grief.
During this period, there were many times that I referred back in my mind to the information that I had just written for the new book. There is one part in particular that I remembered that helped me a great deal. It is in relationship to the High Mind. It is quoted at the end of this article. I offer you this as a sneak preview of the new work.
In 2008 the publication process was begun in Japan and Italy for the new book. The Italian edition should be out February 2009 and the Japanese book is scheduled to come out in spring, 2009. I also found the perfect publisher for the English edition which hopefully, will be out in 2009. Suffice it to say that it is in process, and has been for over 14 years now. This book has its own destiny and will be out when it is darn good and ready, and not a moment before. I have learned to let it be, not to push, keep plugging away and trust that it will be released in accordance with divine plan.
This year I will be teaching an English speaking Advanced Crystal Healing Certification Course in November. In the Advanced Course I teach all of the new information. I look forward to this and hope the new book is out by then.

Chapter 2, The High Mind

......The mantra for the High Mind is "life is subject to change without notice." It knows that life can drastically shift at any moment. It comprehends the transitory nature of physical reality and is ready in an instant to spontaneously adjust to new and changing circumstances. The High Mind is identified and aligned with the universal power of the life cycle, which includes birth, life, death and rebirth. It expands perception to know that reality is a continuum with one stage naturally leading to the next, and all phases being equally valid. Aware that everything changes, High Mind cherishes each precious moment and knows how fragile and cherished the human condition is. It sees through the negative programming in others to acknowledge the sacred within each individual.
How adjustable are you to unexpected change in your life? How does your mind react when old ways of thinking confront situations that force you beyond your comfort zone? The High Mind is always open to change. For example, as I write about High Mind today several things happened earlier this morning. I got up, got dressed, was geared and ready to go work out and then do important errands in town. But my car wouldnt start. I came back into the house to sit at the computer and found that my website was down. I borrowed a friends car to run errands and while carrying grocery bags, I dropped a glass bottle with juice in it, breaking it and spilling brightly colored liquid everywhere. I thought to myself, "What a perfect day to practice high mindedness, since nothing seems to be going my way."
These situations were all minor and it was easy to adjust. But what about the big changes, like losing someone you love or a weather catastrophe that destroys everything you own? These are major changes. Developing the High Mind helps you adjust to major changes as they happen. Of course the most dramatic change of all is meeting the moment of your own death. The High Mind is identified with your soul essence, a much larger reality that makes the transition between life and death an easier one.
There are times when you turn a corner and life as you have known it changes forever. This can include meeting someone, moving to a new location, marriage, birth of a child, or the death of a loved one. During these potentially turbulent times, you can take refuge in your High Mind. It knows the nature of change, growth, and death and knows how to accept those things that are beyond your personal power to change. High Mind seeks solutions and guides you through the many transitions and passages in life.
Bear witness to our own thoughts, altering and forming better ones when you find that they are not serving your higher purpose. Consciously project and express these newly created ideas and identify with them. Align yourself and choose to think positive thoughts when you are used to thinking negative ones. It requires time and effort to consciously build new tracks of chosen thought. Negative tracks of programming are always open and available at any second to be used. As High Mind is activated, you learn to stay present in the moment and catch your negative programming. Then you can veer off that track, re-center yourself and change the nature of your thinking. It is always a personal choice to take control of your own thoughts and redirect negative thinking.

JaneAnn and Scott
JaneAnn was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer on August 26th 2008 and told she had about six months to live. While driving home that day with her husband Scott she said "It won't be six months, it will less than six weeks." Always clear and direct, JaneAnn stated the case. JaneAnn had no fear of death. In less than three weeks, on Saturday September 13, 2008, she took her last breath as Scott whispered "I will love you forever." She was cremated and ashes spread in the Pacific Ocean by Scott, their son SJ, and Scott's brother on the 20th of September.
JaneAnn Dow was one of the most important people in my life. I met her in Los Angeles in 1980 when she came to a Flower Remedy class that I was teaching. We were immediately magnetized to one other. JaneAnn was my senior and spontaneously became my mentor, someone who could give me advice, see my life from a neutral perspective and always tell me the truth.
It was the early 1980's, the very beginning of the crystal work, when JaneAnn and I started to work together. Once a week I would go over to JaneAnn's house and we would sit together, choose stones to hold, close our eyes and ask the stones to tell us who they were and what healing qualities they had. JaneAnn would transcribe our 'channelings' and it wasn't long until we had gathered a body of valuable information to apply on willing participants.
In 1983, when it became obvious that a lot of this information was going to come out in the book Crystal Enlightenment, JaneAnn handed the crystal project over to me and she chose to continue to work with her KITE Foundation: Kids in Transitional Experiences. There she offered many innovative and creative ways to counsel critically ill children and their families. JaneAnn received a doctoral degree in 1982 in Thanatology, the psychology of death and dying. She applied her knowledge of color therapy and crystals successfully with her many clients.
My second book Crystal Healing came out in 1987 and in 1989 my third book The Crystalline Transmission was released. In these two books I discuss twelve master crystals. It was during my 'channeling' time with JaneAnn that we discovered many of these master crystals by paying attention to the specific geometric shapes that comprise the angles of termination in quartz. We were truly amazed as we sat in JaneAnn's office and realized that some crystals have the exact same geometric faces. Today, this information has revolutionized crystal knowledge.
The Dow Crystal, one of the master crystals comprising near perfect geometry, was named in JaneAnn's honor.
In the mid-1980's, JaneAnn founded the Edenic Light Center in New Port Beach, California. There JaneAnn taught varied classes on spiritual topics and counseled many clients. Following a move to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1988 JaneAnn combined her life experiences and crystal knowledge and wrote CRYSTAL JOURNEY, TRAVEL GUIDE FOR THE NEW SHAMAN. Her book was very well received and people from all over the world traveled to study with her.
During her life of 72 years JaneAnn had several near death experiences, wherein she literally returned from a death state. During these experiences JaneAnn traveled into the spirit world and brought back with her a connection to that world that was clear and strong and loving. She was constantly helping souls who had died to find the light. She could do it on a coffee break and no one else would have any idea that she was working interdimensionally. It didn't matter where we were, disembodied souls would find her and she would lovingly guide them to the light. For JaneAnn the veil between the living and the dead was always very thin and she worked tirelessly to assist souls find the light to make a smoother transition between life and death.
JaneAnn was quick of wit, completely her own person, funnier than hell and always generous. She and Scott lived on Maui for her last few years where she continued to teach and share her wisdom. She especially liked her Japanese students who would regularly travel to Maui to study with her. JaneAnn has established a healing center in Tokyo named "The Tao of Dow" where her work, her writing, healing ideas and teachings continue to flourish. JaneAnn made a huge impact on her students, helping them to find their way, trust themselves and "be impeccable, but try not to be perfect."
JaneAnn Dow will be very much missed here on the physical earth plane but knowing her, she is still around, helping out, making jokes and helping souls cross over.

CRYSTAL TRILOGY CHINESE STYLE
 
In April of 2006 CRYSTAL ENLIGHTENMENT was published in Chinese. I was asked by the Chinese publisher,
Life Potential Publication, to take color photographs of the crystals discussed in the book. I worked with
Ron Pendragon, a professional photographer, and submitted twenty six beautiful color crystal photos from my
private collection. They turned out fabulously in the book. I feel that the photos are important for that
part of the world. People there can get the transmission from the photos in the book, even if they never
study or practice crystal healing. I am very happy that after twenty years Crystal Enlightenment got all
dressed up and went to China!!
In May of 2007 CRYSTAL HEALING, VOLUME II joined Volume I when it was also published in Chinese.
